2.Now I am an exchange student in Stockholm, Sweden because of a program. Although this is not my favourite city to live, I can still provide some reasons why I love this city. (1) Environment : this city is full of clean water and fresh air due to a long coastline and numerous moutains with a high density of forest and low density of population. Besides the landscapes here are so amazing that on one can resist to fall in love with it! ![][1] ![][2] (2)Culture : I don't think its own culture style is obvious. We may find some viking traces here but most of the time it's more like a mixture of cultures worldwide. But maybe inclusiveness is one of the important aspect of its own culture. If so there is no enying that Stockholm is amazingly successful because one can always enjoy the surroundings of arts, musics, designs and so on. Take for instance April 23rd, the culture night of Stockholm, the whole city was in a carnival. More than 130 programmes were carried out throughout the city, all of which are free of charge. A real feast of exibitions, operas, folk performances, history, science and so on! ![][3] (3)Recreation possibilities : I think this depends on individuals. Personally I fancy at all kinds of museums, exibitions, workshops and outdoor activities such as hiking, therefore this city is a paradise to me! Also one can find all kinds of intersting events here but usually only in summer. But here alcohol is super expensive so pub fans may get a little disappointed. ![][4] (4)Education : I have to speak highly of the education here! Apart from world-famous educational institutes like Karolinska Institute, Uppsala University and Royal Institute of Technology(KTH, my college), the education here is omnipresent. I love the museums here best. This city has dozens of high quality museums covering art, nature, history, technology, culture, architecture etc. Whatever your interest is you can possibly find your thing here. Furthermore, almost every museum has educational devices interacting with you and a children area where children can play in an atmosphere of information presented in a vivid and attractive way. In my viewpoint this shows the city's emphasize on education of the next generation, not only within schools but more importantly, outside schools. ![][5] ![][6] (5)Infrastructure : this city establishes relatively highly effective infrastructure. From easy access to electricity, water, paper to accessibility facilities everywhere, from benches all around open space to effective public transportation, it shows a great care of livability of the citizens here. ![][7] When it comes to housing, I live in a student appartment which is provided by my college, so I don't have to worry about it. But Stockholm has a huge housing crisis. People here, either citizens or immigrants can hardly find a suitable house with a reasonable price. The housing queue is estimated to be, on average, two or three decades. That's one of the reasons why I don't want to live here for a life time because I think have a roof over my head, either cozy or shabby, is quite important for settlement. 3.Scores of the criteria I choose : environment : 70 (if it's warmer it's better) culture : 90 (amazing!) recreation possibilities : 75 (people here are too introverted, more often than not you have to have fun by yourself..) housing : 50 (awful, as I put above) education : 85 (according to my experience) overall : 65 (too cold and solitude for me) 4.Housing must be my priority because it's probably the most severe social problem here. The reason is that private companies have too much power. In order to maximize profit they unreasonably delay the construction of nwe appartments and charge uncredibly high price for houses. So as a mayor I will regulate the real estate market, require more deciding power for the government and build more high quality residential places with affordable price. Also I will improve the heating system here because it's really cold in the winter, which takes account more than half of the whole year (truthfully, it snowed yesterday, April 24th). 5.The top three cities I want to move to and live for a while are : Zurich, Delft and Berlin in terms of climate/sunshine, culture, education, effective infrastructure and medical care, which are my priorities when it comes to livability of a city. But I'm not so sure of it becacause I have never been to any of them. My judgement is based on official rankings and information from friends who have been there or come from the three cities.
