'Block Holm children and adults experience the best together. The exhibition offers many opportunities for the children to tell, show and explain to the accompanying adults what Minecraft is and how it works. Children under 13 years must not be left without an adult in the exhibition. Block Holm is a project where everyone is invited to build together on Stockholm using the computer game Minecraft. It is a place where we explore what our city is and how it could look. Block Holm is based on a transfer of Stockholm country data into Minecraft for a precise and full-scale representation of the city. Since its launch in October has 10 000 Block Holm plots built on. A jury has selected ten of those showing interesting thoughts and ideas. The buildings we present the prototypes in 1: 5 scale here in the exhibition.'(http://www.arkdes.se/articles/blockholm)This online game is quite like Logo where you are assigned a plot where you can establish houses, public places or greenery as you like with small modules, see the picture. ![][1] ![][2] I have to say that this genius innovation is a good example of Citizen Design Science where ideas from the widespread citizens are inspected and possibly put into practice. It's not only about democracy but concentration of the wisdom of the public and respect to their opinions. The advantages of CDS have been explained in detail in this course, so I will skip it. However, I want to say something of the darwbacks in my viewpoint. First and foremost, there is no denying that not every participant has the relevant knowledge, which could result in pretty crazy design. If the manager or urban planner checks all the creation, there is a huge demand for time and energy. So personally I thinks it better if the game includes a self-examing mechanism which filters those obviously impossible structures. Alternatively, there could be a simulation part in it where players are able to see the consequences of their design so as to make adjustment. Besides, I suppose this game or project is also a unique opportunity to educate the public of some fundamental knowledge in urban planning. For instance, they can provide different levels for the player to choose from according to their acquaintance of this field, and inplant some guidance or hints based on the expertise level. Therefore both city planners and citizens get benefit from it. [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14619458951602622.jpeg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14619459006481263.jpeg
