Below are the trips I generally take to work and back home. ![Trip Details] [1] **GOING TO WORK** Fig 1. Route 1 to office - Walk ![enter image description here][2] Fig 2. Route 2 to office - By Bus ![enter image description here][3] The overall time taken by bus is more than it takes to walk. Also bus can get congested during peak hours and gets messy during rains. So, it is always preferable to walk to work. **RETURN FROM WORK** Fig 3. Route 3 - By walk ![enter image description here][4] Fig 4. Route 4 - By walk ![enter image description here][5] Invariably I walk back home from work. Route 3 and 4 are just different alternates based on the shops I find along them. I pick up my grocery while walking back in order to avoid another trip for shopping. It saves time and walking helps maintain my daily dose of exercise. - The main factor deciding the mode of travel is time and traffic. Since the distance is less than 1 km, more time is lost is waiting or public transport. Traffic snarls during peak hours and most of the times it is faster to walk. - There are various sights along the route. Route 1 to and back from work passes by a school. Kids scramble to school in the morning and ride bikes in the grounds in the evening. It gives a feeling of happiness. - Most of the shops of the neighbourhood are in the "Central Ave" as marked in the map screen shot. It is easy to pick up food and grocery on the way. There are also shopping malls along the route making it easier to avoid another trip solely for shopping.
