Both alternatives have pros and cons and my choice usually depends on the weather conditions and the luggage I would have to travel with. If it's too cold or hot and I won't have to carry too heavy bags I would usually take route 1. If my luggage is too heavy though, the change of the line is quite uncomfortable so I would prefer the bus which would get me straight to the station with minimum walking distance and carrying of bags.
