Economy -1 Housing - 2 Job Opportunities - 3 Environment - 4 Health Care - 5 2 Why do we live where we live? I living in South Ruimveldt Gardens, Greater Georgetown . This is a middle class area that comprises of people of various races such as Africans, Indians and Portuguese. HOUSING is one of the main livability criteria that persuades me to live in this area being that housing maintenance is of low cost and the materials used for most of the housing are environmental friendly and adapts easily to climatic conditions in this country. CLIMATE in Guyana are of two kinds, which are sunny season and rainy season. We do not experience any additional climatic conditions. For both seasons the mode of dressing is moderately comfortable . The two seasons are great benefits for our grown crops and livestock to thrive and so provide goods for export. EDUCATION in Guyana is readily available to all different age groups in the form of schools , institutions and three universities. There are many educational activities that students can participate in , some of which relate to our National Holidays and includes activities such as creative writing, impromptu speeches and debates. SAFETY : Guyana is relatively safe but evidently has seen a rise in crime over the last few years. However safety is still a criteria i choose because despite the crime situation i still consider the environment safe being that residents of the city can go about their daily activities without constantly worrying about any impending danger. TRANSPORTATION is readily available in many forms and most immediate destinations are either an hour or less away from residential areas. Public transportation in the form of taxis and buses are readily available in all residential areas , serving residents until hours such as midnight and after if needed. Also transportation cost is cheap and affordable to any class of persons. ![city of Georgetown][1] ![Georgetown][2] 3 To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Livability Index for Georgetown Climate : 70 Education : 60 Housing :60 Safety:60 Transportation : 75 Livability score : 65 My place of residence fulfills my ideal livability criteria in a minimum percentage. Including some of the five reasons I choose, the listed livability criteria in question 1 is poorly represented in my environment. So to a large extent despite where i live, it would be fair to say I am not satisfied with the livability criteria besides the ones I listed in question 2. 4 What would you change? Some of the criteria I would change are : ENVIRONMENT , SANITATION STANDARDS, RECREATION POSSIBILITIES, JOB OPPORTUNITIES and definitely HEALTH CARE. The first measure I would take is to improve the job opportunities in our city being that many young adults finish university and other educational institutes with little or no job prospects. This results in a large percentage being unemployed and seeking ways of migrating to other countries that may give them the opportunities being lacked here. However there are many ways that job opportunities can be created in our city , such as creating internship and entry positions in many established companies that would benefit from young minds with new ideas for their business. However many of these areas are not being explored. 5. Why do we move? Three place i would move to are: DUBAI, ENGLAND and PARIS Five qualities of the places i choose are Job opportunities, Infrastructure, Housing, Education and Health Care.
