a dozen of jobless people, a dozen of rakes, a dozen of pruning shears, a dozen of shovels, a dozen of saws (foxtails), **and I will create you a park.** I live in a small city of about 30’000 inhabitants in the Swiss Alps. Recreation areas are in the ski resorts not far but there are none in the city or close by. Since Chur has a mild and sunny climate it is a good opportunity for a daytrip from Zürich. There is a nice opportunity that is not used very well: a **funicular from the city to Bambruesch** (46°49'44.2"N 9°30'57.3"E). The city spends about one million Euro each year to run this funicular, but it is not really used. Only some children go up there to learn to ski. But since there are almost no benches and no other inviting facilities for recreation, one feels not very welcome. (1500 meters above sea level) There is second opportunity on the **riverside of the Rhine**, where there is a lot of open space, calling for new opportunities because the Swiss Army plans to give up the military training area. (46.850085, 9.497435 ,550 meters above sea level). Once there was a discussion to establish a lake, but since there is no budget, this idea is now died again. ![Sketch carlottapen.ch][1] The third opportunity is on the **field below the city**. This is an open field in the property of the “Bürgergemeinde”. 46.867435, 9.524765 Here one can establish a public urban garden, not a schrebergarden, but a coworking garden. **The fourth and maybe best opportunity is the woods** 46.879928, 9.549995 northeast oft he city. There is plenty of sunny land. ![Sketch carlottapen.ch][2] During wintertime Chur has a problem with the sun because the larger part oft he city lies for month in the shadow of the Brambrüesch, a close mountain on the southern side oft he city. This is a pitty because during wintertime, here is a lot of sun ... but not where people live or can recreate. It is on the other side of the valley or down by the river Rhine, up in the mountian Brambrüesch. My intention is to work only with manpower and aesthetic skills. This gives sense to the people and creates a usefull park for further touristic use since snow tourism is decreasing. The design process is on the site, while working with the plants. Only tailoring, wheeding, cleaning out and seeding as well as planting is allowed - no tractors, caterpillars or stuff like this shall be used. The sense of makeing something by his own hands is the aim of the workflow. Those who work are involved. There is a spiritus rector in need, that is empathic with the workers. It is important that people who live on the "border" of society are involved. The role of integration is key to aour society.
