As far as I know, Citizen Design Science has never been applied in Nicaragua, instead traditional urban planning and design has been applied. Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, is changing the urban image thanks to different projects such as the rehabilitation of the Port Salvador Allende and Walk Xolotlán along the lake-shore; both projects were well received by most of the population, with good reviews and recommendation to visit these new touristic places. However other projects haven’t been well received by some part of the population such as, the installation by the government in emblematic places of the city of huge metal structures and spectacular bright yellow symbolizing the "tree of life". These yellow trees are an adaptation of the famous drawing by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt in 1909, and have been given people much to talk about in the newspaper, television shows, social networks, etc. Most of the reviews have been about the high cost of each tree plus the maintenance and electricity spent by lighting. The architect Alfredo Osorio Peters said once “those trees are giving an interesting urban image to the city, but still we need to see what will happen next”. I wonder how everything would have turned out if Citizen Design Science has been applied to this project of the trees of life, or if still is possible to be applied, since the government continues installing these trees on the main avenues of the city, and also the reviews of the people continue. ![Trees of Life in Simon Bolivar Avenue ][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14490941483901827.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14490942547379793.jpg
