The building under construction is the northern tower of the Atrio building complex in Bogota, Colombia. This two tower complex is set to become the tallest in the country not only representing the nation's economic development, but better yet its insertion in the global economy. After all, its construction had a global approach from its conception as the building was designed by British architecture firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. However, while much of the labour and raw material comes from Colombia (ex: concrete) there are key materials that are to be imported from abroad. For example, in order to complete the characteristic glass facade, aluminium frames are set to be imported from Greece, while the actual high-tech glass panels will originate from Romania. It is through this importing of materials and design expertise that the Atrio building complex represents the involvement of a globalized economy in building construction.
