Think and comment on the following example: Habitats of a certain neighborhood don’t feel safe when they walk in their neighborhood in the evening and during the night. You are working for the local government and want to solve this problem through improvement of the public spaces. How would you start-up a Citizen Design Science project? I would begin by grouping the people of this neighbourhood and start a conversation with them. Getting to hear directly their concerns on the different habitats of the neighbourhood, the good and the bad, the safe and the unsafe feelings. Then I would walk that pathway during the evening and the night a few times with the people of the community and taking notes in physical factors, like lighting, walkability, comfort, distance and different users but also hearing their thoughts as they walk by the different parts of their neighborhood. After this analysis a plan of recommendations or a design can be placed.
