Manchester, UK is home to 2 prestigious universities. Hence, it sees new incoming students (STOCK - for several years, FLOW - after the end of University) every year. As a consequence, every September, the density (STOCK - for 9 months each year FLOW when students are leaving for vacations or work opportunities) of the city is increasing. This further creates the need for housing as well as learning hubs which translates into a material demand (concrete- the most widely used construction material becomes STOCK - for building student accommodation and libraries or other learning facilities; FLOW - at the end-of-use phase of the developments, when concrete can be thoughtfully reused in the construction of other buildings around Manchester). The increase in the number of libraries results in the increase in information (STOCK - as library books). Moreover, the increase in the student population results in the increase of information (FLOW) exchanged on phones about places to hang out at. From here, the most obvious result will be the increase in high-rise developments, high-density areas and overall expansion of the city. Moreover, the yearly graduates will increase the job demand and the workforce will improve, thus the economy will grow.
