The above photograph is a view of my street in Dubai. In the olden cities of UAE (Dubai), one can notice the use of natural materials such as stone - for plinth (To avoid wind erosion), mud structure with split palm for beams in the interior of the buildings. But, as UAE developed the use of these naturally available raw materials is reduced tremendously and different construction materials such as concrete, steel, glass, etc are predominantly used. High usage of these imported construction materials might prove to be hindrance to the economic growth of the nation; Imbalance in the import and export of materials. Also, adaptive usage of locally available construction materials would not only improve economic growth, but also help these cities/countries possess its own unique character.
