1.The three important stocks and flows entering, staying and eventually leaving Singapore I would like to discuss about are WATER, FOOD, IMMIGRANTS 2.WATER: The water supply and distribution here can be divided into types; catchment water, Imported water, NEWater, desalinated water. Local catchment water relies of rainwater and is a sustainable method and meets up-to 10% water needs. Imported water meets up-to 60% of water needs, maximum of 250 million gallons of water/day comes from Johor river in Malaysia.NEWater is high-grade reclaimed water produced from treated used water that is further purified and made safe to drink and meets up to 30% of water needs. Desalination plants which uses seawater reverse osmosis meets up-to 25% of the water needs. FOOD: 90% of the food eaten in Singapore come from around the globe since it is a small island with less agriculture. IMMIGRANTS: immigrants migrate from India,China,Malaysia,Europe Etc.for economic purposes. 3.Singapore is investing in R&D to create alternative sources of water over the years. Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) is working closely with local farmers to raise their capability and promoting local produce to consumers and is constantly making policy changes for immigrants which in the future will benefit the country.
