2. I live in capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, Patan. Among the 29 million population of Nepal, 2.5 million live in Kathmandu valley. People from all over the country move here for better life and better opportunities. This has resulted in encroachment in the city land and unplanned housing and settlement. Due to deforestation for urbanization, industrialization and cultivation, pollution has increased and also resulting in scarcity of water and drought. The concrete jungle has made the weather humid and obstructed the wind flow. While the rural areas near the city are quite underdeveloped and lack many facilities despite the greenery, clean environment and other natural resources. 3. I would propose the following measures to reduce UHI effect: -Afforestation programs -Planned settlement -Limiting height of buildings -Promotion of renewable energy resources -Electric vehicles -Proportional development -Strict law implementation regarding migration 4. I'm not aware about any policies planned in my community to reduce UHI effect.
