My city is Santiago, Chile. I took this picture from a skyscraper last summer. The picture depicts the Andes mountain range at the east of the city. I think the mountain range is the main stock in Santiago since its composition and size persist mostly invariant through the time. However, in the Andes is also possible to see a flow of water. This happens between the period of snow deposition in winter and the subsequent melting in summer. Another identified element is represented by buildings, which are associated to flow. This element is entering the city since building increase in proportion to the population. As a stock element, I identify the smog that persists in the atmosphere. It can be noticed even in summer, as seen in the picture. I believe that these stocks and flows will surely change in the future for the benefit of the city. For example, the smog could change from stock to flow, if an accelerated and progressive decrease is achieved over the years. Water, seen as flow element, could mutate to a stock, for example, accumulating water in reservoirs or swimming pools to ensure water availability in the future.
