1. Five most livable cities I know: Zurich, Basel, Salzburg, Stuttgart, Edinburgh. 2. Five characteristics that make a city livable to me: high consumer buying power/purchasing power (relation between average salaries and cost of living); safety and low crime rates; availability of good and affordable services (healthcare, transportation systems at different scales from local transportation to airports, schools for children from kindergarten to high school, services for elderly people, etc.); connection with nature; balance of historical area and new developments. 3. My current city is Milan and I think it ranks quite good on livable city standard but there is a lot of room for improvement. The consumer buying power is a big issue as it's generally low if compared to most of other large sized or mid sized cities; personal safety in Milan is average for European cities I think, anyway not comparable to Far East countries like China, Singapore or Japan where it's much higher in my experience; sertvices are generally good and affordable, but they can be improved even if, especially for transportation related, bureaucracy and politics are a big hindrance; connection with nature and balance of historical/contemporary urban environments are very good in general.
