Uploaded on 2020-07-15 by Sneha Moorthy
The visible information in the image are 1. people- some differently-abled- jostling in and out of the train, people drinking water from wash basin, people sitting on the floor around luggage. 2. We see the wires transferring electricity for light, for the train to run. 3. We also see signage. The invisible information in the image are: 1. We can track how different people (differently-abled, different genders, age group, economic class) navigate through the station. Many people avoid walking through certain stretches, take detours because they feel unsafe, especially at night. To make visible most crowded places and most avoided spaces, we could also observe heat clusters (heat generated by an individual). This information can help us design safer public spaces with better lighting, altering the use of the space by introducing mixed-use commercial activity etc. 2. Using data extracted from mobile phone's gps, during the pandemic, we can contact trace who is carrying the virus and to where. 3. We can also look at ways to convert the station to make it run on renewable energy after understanding where the electricity comes from.
