Q2. hot nights during heat waves, hot spots in the city on entirely covered squares. Parks are cooler, as are the suburban and rural outskirts of the city. The first picture is a picture of my neighborhood, in which you see paved streets, sidewalks and buildings, although the width of the street and the height of the buildings are rather modest, this is still a good environment for the UHI. The second picture is from the rural surroundings, showing rolling hills, open pastures and small villages. Q3. In my neighborhood, I would encourage facade gardens by investing in a team that comes to neighborhoods and helps residents in planting their personal facade garden. A second measure is investing in neighborhood level parks, with sufficient trees, grass, and bioswales. Q4. The local government is aware of the UHI in the city. It is actively mapped and the ambition is formulated to develop waterfronts on the rivers and canals, create more green spaces and shade, and reduce hard surfaces. Actual measures that are taken (and put into policy) include the planting of threes, the use of light coloured street surfaces, fountains, green roofs.
