Citizen Design Science Project: I'm Meenu S. Nair, living in Vijayawada, India. I've lived all my life in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Its been about 2 years since I've been living in Vijayawada and it has struck me that Vijayawada is not a pedestrian friendly city at all. Maybe a street or two mostly reserved for shopping is pedestrian oriented but the rest of the city not really. In Bangalore the situation is slightly better owing to the social circles and re-creative activities etc. where pedestrians and cyclists are given a little more consideration, but definitely not enough. Hence I would like to develop and work on a Citizen Design Science Project "Pedestrian and Cyclist Friendly Cities" which will definitely need the inputs from the main users its being designed for- the Citizens. The idea is to be introduced to the public through various platforms, newspapers, social media and even fliers distributed in major assembly areas. Online surveys and open platforms for the opinions and suggestions of the citizens can be maintained. A timeline can be set from the introduction date to the last date for the submission of opinions etc. The design must incorporate these ideas.
