1. Check the temperature differences in US cities It is shocking to see/ view the effect of UHI in US. 2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? Lack of sufficient wind, change in thermal properties of the surface materials and lack of evapotranspiration rate in urban areas cause the urban heat island effect. I also guess the main effect is the increase in population, which lead in the increase of using vehicle and other practices which definitely increased the amount of head released to the air resulting in increasing temperature. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? If I had the decision, I would minimize the release of CO2 by minimizing using private transportation. This will reduce UHI. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Organizations in the UAE are trying there best to find a solution to the raise in temperature. One of the solutions is minimizing burning fossil fuels and use renewable energy such as using solar panels. Also, the UAE sends aircrafts that hits rainy clouds which leads in falling rain which will definitely decrease temperature.
