This photo is from a newspaper report, not taken by me. And the location is Bangalore India. The city has an enormous problem in handling garbage that accumulates and the primary issue is that all types of garbage (household, construction debris, commercial waste etc) are dumped on the roadside because (1) there is no penalty on people for doing that (2) the local government has not done enough to collect the garbage in an organized manner (3) there is no significant participatory process involving various stakeholders to identify a good solution. An App is required which helps people to provide all their inputs with specific locations and related problems, which can be reviewed by the government experts and then discussed in a forum for ultimate solutions.
