1. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? Nørresundby is located in the northern part of Denmark. The weather in general is moderate - it is not so hot in summer time, nor very cold in winter time. Usually it is partly sunny, however there are strong winds and lots of rain during spring and autumn. Therefore in the urban area the UHI effects are not so high. People enjoy walking, and in the city center around 50% of people or more choose bicycles over cars. However, there are enough cars to generate pollution. The streets are wide and opened. Although the city follows modern architecture (glass and concrete) and renovates the old part of the city, it is taken care of nature as well. More and more trees are planted and resting areas -city parks- are created in the center of city. Besides that, the city itself is located next to a big river, which basically splits the living areas in half. This helps to improve the air condition within the city. 2. Which are the measures you would propose? I think that the city architects are taking a good care of the situation. There are more parks created, more space for people to rest by the water front, less cars within the city center and increasing people interest in living *green* by using bicycles instead of other transport. 3. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? I have made comments about this topic in the previous answer.
