List of livable cities based on my experience (from Ecuador): 1. Cuenca 2. Ibarra 3. Loja 4. Ambato 5. Quito Characteristics 1. Access to basic resources 2. Access to education and job opportunities 3. Good weather conditions 4. Cleanness 5. Polite population I live in Quito, Ecuador: my city is the capital of the country so it has the three first characteristics, but just in some places. The main problem is inequality, the center part of the city and the valleys (the sectors where the most of the medium class lives) are good places to live, but the suburbs are constantly growing and not following a plan to expand, it causes a serious lack of resources. I believe it is possible for Quito to become a sustainable city, but it will take a long time and we have to start as fast as possible, before the problem of the suburbs become a thread for the part that has developed until now. Note: the picture shows one of the residential sectors that is quickly growing but no plan. Nowadays, this sector is a really good option to live but with more building constructions and people coming, there is an uncertain future.
