I chose a picture from a trip I took to South America, including La Paz, where this picture was taken. Quite simply, having studied electricity some as well, I think this picture demonstrates that without well-thought-out proper infrastructure with a mind for future use and expansion, then people and businesses will consistently make their own path towards what they deem vital, be it electricity, water, transportation, etc. If a better, cleaner system were designed at the very first, the power lines in this picture would not just look cleaner, but would be safer and more efficient too. This is sometimes what I think of when I think of their "bottom-up" approach, where citizens are more forced to fend for themselves, with little oversight from the government at large.
