Electronic equipment, oil, gas, medical and machinery are the top imports in Singapore. On a different scale, Singapore also heavily relies on imported food as well as foreign workers. The flow of electronic equipment, mostly integrated circuit will serve as component for computers to remain, technical equipment or machinery will both be used in the territory and exported. Crude oil and gas will be transformed, used for the needs of the city-state and also be exported as chemical goods. As for food, it comes in as a flow but can be stored and consumed as a stock in the territory. The photo shows the Marina Barrage, a fresh water reservoir (stock). The migrant workers would be considered as flow, only staying temporarily (also due to stringent immigration rules) during construction projects. Recently the city state has been encouraging the flow of foreign talents on its way of building up the "Smart City" and its future proof information architecture. If these talents became stock to the city, chances will be higher for the city to remain resilient.
