We dont have a system to measure the heat island in Brasilia or anywhere else in Brasil. If we compare the weather forecast comparing Brasilia and its rural area (Planaltina for instance) we dont see much difference, but its a data we cannot rely on. Brasilia is very unique because its only 60 years old and it was planned from the start to be a garden city. And its plan you can see that there is very low density, it was part of the urban planner's idea. Each residential block (500m x 500m)contains only 11 buildings (6 storey height) very far from each other with a green belt of trees around it. The streets are really wide with wide green areas separating then. This composition allows a great ventilation between building with a low heat island effect. These construction strains are protected by the heritage agency as Brasilia is listed as national heritage as well as world heritage. So there is no much space left for changes.
