Using the examples of the natural forests and abundant fresh water available in the Canadian province of Ontario, the four parts of the Ecosystem Services categorization can be explored. a. Provisioning services In Canada’s province of Ontario, the forestry and the abundant amount of fresh water from the bordering Great Lakes provides wood products to various industries, medicinal resources, food, water supply and irrigation as well as energy from bio-mass based products. b. Regulating services: As regulators, the forests act as air filtration, climate regulation, water filtration, the cycling of Nutrients, Flood control, Erosion and Irrigation control, Waste treatment, and soil formation c. Habitat or Supporting services The natural forests and fresh water lakes in Ontario provide a natural and diverse habitat for countless species of animal and insects as well as human beings. Biodiversity in flora and fauna can subsist throughout several wilderness protection areas. d.
