The global supply chain is a huge determining factor in the cost and availability of building products all over the world. In my house, for example, when I remodeled my kitchen I installed cabinets from Cliq Studios, because they offered good prices compared to local companies, even though they are manufactured in China and assembled in Indiana. For much of America, it's hard to find anything that's 100% American made that doesn't come with a significant price increase, even if there are fewer companies involved in the supply chain. It's seen as more bespoke. Streamlining the supply chain approach with an emphasis on locally sourced, renewable resources should be a driver in creating low-cost, high-quality products is going to be integral in allowing developing countries to expand and develop in a healthy and sustainable way.
