In Melbourne Australia, due to the street canyon configurations of the high rise buildings, radiation is captured and remains in the street canyon because of the multiple reflections making the urban temperature much higher than the suburban areas. However, this same street canyon configuration also acts as wind tunnels in the winter funnelling and increasing wind speed making walking around the city exceptionally cold in winter.
