1. Done. 2. I live in the outskirts of Ahmadabad city, where the temperature is always 2-3 degree C lesser than in the main city centre. The min/max temp in the city during summers is mostly 27/42 C or higher and in winters it is 13/29 C. The UHI effect is due to lesser green covers in the city along with dense traffic and constant construction on buildings all around. 3. The measures I would propose as a policy maker will be to establish public transport to reduce the number of private vehicles on the road. Next would be to mandate all buildings that are built follow climatology norms so as to naturally make summers comfortable and in turn reduce the excess use of air conditioners wherever avoided. Planting more trees on street edges will encourage pedestrians and lastly encourage green practices of construction. 4. UHI is still not a big topic on the agenda for many local governments around the country. Though some measures like developing better public transport is something that is being done city wise to reduce pollution.
