In my neighberhood in Bangkok. The skytrain(transportation) significantly make a change to the area. It use to be the low-rise redidential area but as the skytrain go through the area, lots of lands were bought and developed into a high-rise residential area. These high-rise building really create the problem to the area since the other infrastructure is not ready for it yet. One of the most visible one is road. It is not build for the high-capacity building so there are more traffic jam in the area.
