STOCKS AND FLOWS -Azogues City- I will mention three stocks and flows that are constantly present in my city, which will be covered in three different aspects: the scenery, food and people. • Cojitambo Hill Cojitambo Hill is near to the city, on which top there are important archaeological ruins of the ''Cañari'' culture, dating from 1500BC. It is also regarded as the best place nationally to practice climbing sport. These reasons make it an important stock that generates different flows. Daily, many climbers from different cities visit Cojitambo to practice climbing, as well as many tourists visit the ruins. These two activities generate economic, commercial, touristic and habitational flows that keep being Cojitambo as an important place. • ´´Cascaritas´´ food Cascarita is one of the most important foods of the region, consisting of the pork´s leather that, after being cooked by a blowtorch technique, it turns crispy. This food is possible by the number of existing slaughterhouses that allow immediate the delivery of the animal. These slaughterhouses become important stocks that have made this food generate important economic and commercial flows. Many people visit Azogues mainly by tasting Cascarita. In Azogues city, Cascarita´s restaurant has promoted the construction of several restaurants adjacent to it. These new restaurants, in turn, have promoted construction of more and more restaurants and commercial activities. Nowadays, this sector has become an important commercial site. • Migration The population density of Azogues has been affected by the financial crisis in the country, especially that of 1999 which boosted Great Migration Flows. In this case, population density is the ´´stock´´, and migration the ´´flow´´. Migration has introduced other important issues that changed the dynamic of the city, creating new flows such as: o New architectural styles that try to look like American architecture. o New school programs, in which, family unity issues are addressed o Most of the children of migrant parents, have grown alone, and have been grouped into dangerous gangs that threaten security in the neighborhood.
