If we follow the thesis, that cities health can be measured by its transportation infrastructure, Berlin would rank quite high. The city is continually investing in bike infrastructure (although some might say it not enough, especially looking at Denmark and Netherlands) but most are dependent on rail system of public transportation. This dependency is closely likened with dependency on electricity. Actually the whole Germany is dependent heavily on electricity though rail system, despite Germany's cities being very car-centric designed. This dependency on electricity intensifies with new trends in electric cars and especially in car sharing industry. That is one of the reasons we should accelerate the production of energy though revealable resources. Sadly, our dependance on electricity is growing faster then investments in renewable energy production.
