FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 3: "Factors of Livability"
Uploaded on 2016-09-19 by Pearson Brown
My top 5 cities based on livability: 5. Sydney, Australia 4. Vienna, Austria 3. Copenhagen, Denmark 2. Helsinki, Finland 1. Tokyo, Japan The most important characteristics in a city: 5. The climate or sunshine. Needs to allow good productivity while also not hindering and becoming a nuisance for recreational activities. 4. Goods and services. Shopping facilities available and attraction of the city commercially to non-locals. 3. Public Transport. Quantity and quality of services available. Consideration of prices and upkeep of stations. 2. Environmental Issues. The greenery of the city, parks available and any pollution problems. Noise and artificial heat production. 1. Recreation and Culture. Quality of free time, nightlife and the cities general enthusiasm. Sporting opportunities considered too (Tokyo 2020) Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom. We generally have a poor climate, wet and grey skies throughout the majority of the year. Average sunlight. Newcastle offers good services with a busy and dynamic town centre. Public transport is very good- offering a major train station and key stop between London and Edinburgh, an international airport and a highly maintained bus service. Newcastle offers above average recreational opportunities with various cinemas in the extended territory, a theatre, local sports facilities and St James' Park in the town centre (football stadium).
