FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-04-07 by Valentina Soto García
This is the best picture I could take of my city because of the quarantine caused by the Coronavirus. You can see, as part of the visible information, buildings, trees, mountains, a clear sky. Nevertheless, invisible information is hidden behind this picture. For example, the mountains in the back, surround the city and have it enclosed in a hole, which produces high amounts of contamination and many times affects the clear sky and people’s health. This highly affects the transportation system many times as decisions, like having restrictions for cars going out certain days, must be taken (clearly the sky looks beautiful, but it’s because there’s a high amount of the population staying at home). Another bit of invisible information is extracted from the high population density in this city. There are many buildings and not houses, and especially slums that continue to grow on the mountains because of lack of space. This issue, for example, has to be taken into account because of the generation of traffic and the need for the construction of buildings even more close to each other.
