1. Check the temperature differences in US cities All of the cities with most intense summer UHI are very urbanized and full of high structures, that show as the impact that have the excessive construction in the urban cities of XXI century. Instead US count with many suburbian spaces that reduces the UHI in their areas. 2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? In Bogotá - Colombia the problem most dangerous and contaminating is the smoke that emit cars, buses or transmilenio, in here you don’t see many high structures but the construction in the hills bring lots of problems of global warming and the fact that many constructions are made from any people so they don’t think too much in the statutes of construction so that make many density so there are many places that suffer of intense summer. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? At first encourage of electrical transportation, also bring laws that prohibit the disproportionate and unknown ways of construction but also bring help to persons who need it so they never have to construct on their own account so we can start to design better spaces, green zones, etc to retard de UHI effect. 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? The people in Colombia have lots of needs so the concern of the global warming is not a priority for the government right now and the people don’t talk or teaches about the problem neither, is from the designer to give constructions that help to retard the UHI effect.
