1. On average across all the 60 US cities, the maximum temperature difference between the urban and surrounding rural areas was 17.5°F and much as 27°F in some areas. On average, urban temperatures were 2.4°F hotter than rural. The city with the most intense UHI is Las Vegas((7.3°F) 2. The localization of the UHI in Kyiv consistent in reflect the map of its vegetation (NDVI) It means that the main reason for the spread of UHI in my city is the felling of green space. The maximum difference between the most and least green areas is 10°С, on average 5°С. The hottest have the level of landscaping 10-35%. The suburbs of Kyiv also suffer from dense building and felling of trees. The daytime temperature difference between them and the city is 1,7°С in. 3.To reduce the UHI effect, I’d suggest, in addition to competent planning and landscaping, an inventory and marking of all green areas of the city and initiate the adoption of laws that make planting profitable. 4. The UHI problem is dealt by eco-activists mainly. The adopted law on environmental impact assessment came to their aid. It allows the public to influence the issuance of building permits.
