This photo is taken from this website http://www.romeartlover.it/Beitmery.html In this photo when overlooking the capital Beirut from the rural Lebanese town Beit Mery, air pollution, which is obviously depicted over the city, is the direct effect of the UHI as well as the rise of temperature that negatively affects all citizens’ thermal comfort and exacerbation of cancer and many other diseases. We can notice the big difference in deforestation in the city, one of the main contributors to this alarming air polluted environment I am living in, as well as the chaotic urban planning, and therefore one of the quick fixes to this problem is to replant the city in providing green spaces and parks and green roofs as it was suggested by StudioInvisible in 2012 which is a mandatory step to bring the balance back again to the city as well as implementing an effective urban designing planning into the city. Unfortunately the Lebanese government is taking a total opposite measure with concerning this matter by planning to build incinerators and adding more landfills to solve the waste management crisis which is the main trigger to this UHI effect in Beirut.
