On the right of the image is the localized construction techniques still practiced in the rural districts of India. The structure is economic and perfect for the humid climate, but the buildings constructed in the major metro cities of India are the ones shown on the right. They are built of steel and concrete which is primarily imported. The main reason behind this lies in the population as well. Localized construction techniques do not go higher than 2 floors but with the population of cities in India high rises are almost an mandate. This also forces contractors and architects to engage into globalized construction materials and techniques and limits the localized one to rural areas.
