Citizen Design Science project: I'd create a Citizen Design Science Project for Solid Waste Recycling. I would ask the local government to arrange recycle bins in streets where people can put easily recyclable waste for example, cartons, glass or plastic bottles, cardboard, newspaper, etc. Could be like an open cupboard with these things organized. Every member of the community can take whatever they need for DIY, for decoration, for packaging and even for minor home fixtures from that recyclable material. There will be recycling competitions in communities and recycling innovation awards, e.g., we have several examples of the use of plastic bottles in gardening. People can bring more ideas and implement these ideas to receive awards e.g., movie tickets, etc. Most importantly, people will be trained to segregate trash at their homes and throw it in 3 different colored dustbins for different types of waste. There would also be a "wall of kindness" on major roads where people can hang extra clothes, shoes, sheets, etc. and poor people can take them. Doing this in big cities is preferred (inspired from "kindness wall" drive in Pakistan). Image shows how I've recycled a box, old laces, plastic bottles, and a calendar.
