The image shows my 2 route options from home to work. The city is Lahore, Pakistan. Unfortunately, my home-work commute is very poorly connected. The two major forms of public transport, a BRT bus and other public bus do not cover my entire area. I f I were to catch a bus, I would spend 20 minutes in calling a rickshaw or an Uber, go to the stop, wait for the bus, and then reach the office in 40 minutes. Not to mention the hassle of that and chance of always being late. Hence, my option 1 is my father dropping me off to work on his car and then he goes to his office. With this option, we choose a slightly longer but signal free route. My second route choice on Uber is shorter because Uber drivers never agree for long routes. I don’t like waiting for five signals on a small patch of road but have to adjust. Overall, the lack of public transport is a big issue, but signal free corridors are a blessing to avoid traffic.
