This photo was taken by me last March in the suburbs of Moscow near Elektrozavodskaya metro station. We can see almost every infrastructure system in action. Heating, electric grid, train road and tram infrastructure, walkable sidewalks and telecommunications. This was a road bridge with pedestrian aisles on both sides that cross over the rail lines of the suburban railway. In the middle of the road there are two sets of tracks for tram buses and their catenaries over them. In the background there are many air ducts ventilating what looks like a manufacturing building. Further we can see the RT headquarters with its roof full of parabolic antennas. Behind it two smoking chimneys belonging to either heating water, power plants or industrial facilities. Cold climates the like of Russia imply a large and sprawling set of infrastructure and high consumption of resources to sustain acceptable levels of comfort for its inhabitants. Warmer climates dependency and costs are way lower as exterior living is possible.
