Hiroshima city(urban) Miiri =rural area image is from Google Earth Miiri= a rural area The main reasons that contribute to UHI in Hiroshima is likely that high density of tall concrete buildings and they are badly organized causing waste of energy. 3) Which are the measures you would propose? I would propose that the city government, firms, and individuals should try to enhance efficient distribution of electricity among those buildings. For example, when new buildings are planned, simulating the result of buildings are built in reducing UHI. 4) Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Unfortunately, no. The city government often says that the residents should use less energy, but at least to me, it depends on individual's small effort not architecture of the organized buildings.
