5 MOST LIVEABLE CITIES 1. Copenhagen. Excellant biking infrastructure leading to good health. 2. Singapore. Excellant public transit, law and order. Ideal for non Western people looking for a place where they can meet cultures similar to their own. 3. Sydney 4. Auckland 5. Chandigarh. Clarity of intial plan has allowed for space for public amenities which are not provided in organically developed Indian cities. 5 CRITERIA FOR LIVEABILITY 1.Safety and Stability 2.Pleasant climate or easy availability of infrastructure to mitigate harsh weather (such as shelters/ underground transit in rainy cities) 3.Active Public and Green Spaces as well as avenues for entertainment. 4.Ease of Movement especially via public transit, especially for elderly, children and disabled. 5.Access to healthcare and education, for all economic groups. BENGALURU'S PERFORMANCE ON LIVEABILTY CRITERIA 1.Safety(7/10): Quite good, people feel safe. 2.Climate(6/10): Excellant natural climate, possibly the best in the world. Spoilt to an extent by a lot of vehicular noise and pollution. 3.Active Public Space(5/10): Good central spaces and theatres. Very few public spaces at local level. 4.Movement(3/10): Private transport or cab is the only convenient way to move. Public transport is very crowded, not shaded and not always predictable. 5.Healthcare and Education(9/10)
