Moscow meets top-5 livability criteria I have listed in Q1 (Economy, environment, infrastructure, job opportunities and sanitation standards) for 60 out of 100. Unfortunately, in more than half of Moscow districts the ecological and sanitation situation is not so good. Infrastructure is also awful in districts called “Novaya Moskva” (New Moscow) – territories that were joined to the old territory of Moscow 10 years ago. There are lots of traffic jams, insufficient public transport connections, so that these new districts sometimes turn into little ghettos for their inhabitants that cannot simply get out. Absence of social infrastructure (mainly kindergartens and schools) worsen the situation. As for the general livability criteria score for Moscow – I would evaluate it as 70 out of 100, which is higher than the score for my top-5 criteria. It happens because the city as a whole contains all necessary elements except for what I have already indicated.
