The average annual temperature in Moscow has increased by 0.3 degrees Celsius since 2009. The island of heat is also noticeable - the temperature in the city center and in the suburbs can vary by 1-2 degrees. Especially the heat island is noticeable in winter - the snow cover in the suburbs comes off a couple of weeks later than in the city itself. This is primarily due to the number of green spaces and the built-up area: their ratio changes with distance from the center. I believe that the increase in the number of green areas within a densely built area can reduce the impact of the heat island and improve the quality of life of citizens during the heat wave. Moscow authorities are trying to reduce urban climate change by increasing the number of trees on the streets and running electric buses. At the same time, they clean eco-friendly trolley buses, replacing them with buses, which looks a bit ridiculous.
