The 1st stock and flow is people. We were a small town and are now a small city of 90 500 people. People move to the city, require housing, schools, amenities etc., which will impact land use, densities, hospitals etc. The 2nd is lumber. We have a large amount of forests which are used for lumber. It is taken to the mills and produced into pulp and paper which is then exported to other parts of the country and other nations. Tree planting and reforestation must take place to sustain the amounts that are taken but the rates of each will determine the sustainability of the forests and the industry. Climate change and increasing forest fires will have an impact on the forests and the use of the land. The 3rd is food. We import a lot of food like most countries and a good portion of that is fruits and vegetables. We consume them and what we don't consume or the byproduct is either recycled, composted, or sent to landfills. This can lead to new facilities such as a new waste treatment centre, which has been proposed over the years or the closure of a recycling plant.
