The most liveable cities are in my opinion: Hamburg, Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam and Berlin Factor, which I consider important. are: climate, pollution (including noise), safety, healthcare, economic stability My city, which is Berlin, needs to improve particularly in the factors of pollution. Interconnected with this issue is the flow of cars inside the city, or put differently the traffic jams. While other cities managed to create an infrastructure fit for cycling, Berlin is hindered by its set up into different areas - one of the main reasons city officials can not decide on a larger strategy to make cycling appealing. Here, the integration of citizens and collection of urban big data could help. In order to be truly resilient, Berlin would need to find ways to exit more strongly from crisis. Yet while the city grows, very little has been changed in the way traffic flows are managed. New data about cycling and public transportation could inform, yet policy decisions would need to follow. A reform around how traffic systems are created in participation with citizens is needed in order to create a truly sustainable system. Photo: Müggelsee, near Berlin.
