The five most liveable cities that I know are: Moscow, Vienna, Berlin, Bayreuth, Montreal. For me, the following five characteristics make a city liveable: 1. well-working public transport 2. green places 3. beautiful and old buildings 4. drinking water from the tap 5. tidy I currently live in Moscow and experience these characteristics as follows as well as my suggestions for transformation towards more sustainability: Three of the criteria are completely met: there are many green places such as parks and grass verges and the city is in general very tidy. Besides, there are many beautiful and old buildings - especially in the city center. Two aspects should be transformed: the metro wagons should operate a lot less noisy in order to make travelling and commuting more comfortable. Furthermore, drinking water must be bought in the supermarket and does not come out of the tap. This should be changed so that it is possible to drink water from the tap in the whole city. Thereby, much ressources can be saved: less plastic waste for bottles, less logistics for equipping supermarkets and money savings for the population.
