I) Copenhagen Barcelona Nice Lisbon Paris II) Walkability Public Spaces Social Inclusion Recreation Safety III) What makes Hamburg special is that all attractions can be reached within half an hour. The goal of promoting cycling and traffic-calmed areas while minimizing motorised private transport (Copenhagen model), also has a positive effect. Cities that promote walkability and have a good public transport system, will ensure that citizens can stay social and independent. Furthermore it has theaters, numerous parks, a beach and other recreational opportunities that enhance the liveability. There are beautiful „public" spaces, but their increasing economic orientation and the spread of PPP’s are noticeable. Contrary to the intention to increase the cleanliness and quality, it especially contributes to the exclusion of non-consumers. This also explains why Hamburg performs less well on inclusion. Hamburg has the right amount of safety: Public spaces provide the feeling of social security through sufficient lighting, environmental design, etc. At railway stations and tourist sites there is also camera surveillance. But not everywhere and that can be considered positive: In order to create liveable places, the citizen should not feel permanently supervised, but must have a retreat, which nevertheless does not embody a lawless zone.
