FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2019-02-16 by Julien Beauvillier
This is Peel Street, a small street in the centre of the CBD of Adelaide. The first invisible information that we can extract from that picture is the location of the street. It is situated between Currie St, an important business area and Hindley St, the party area of the city. The second invisible information is, thus, the social function of this area. It is a very pleasant and dynamic street, especially on a summer night, helping to boost the economy of the CBD. To the point that the city council decided that Peel St will part of a renovation project aiming at dynamizing the laneways of the city centre to make them more attractive. This information clearly supported future decisions towards a more liveable urban place in the way that urban planners noticed the popularity of the street and its vital location and decided to act upon it and funded its redevelopment. This project includes a new design and an improved connection the other main laneways andand streets of the CBD to help boost the nightlife in the CBD and create a more liveable place.
